Hi JoyGenea here, Dyslexia and ADHD coach for adults. I want to talk about ADHD and women and girls, so people that might look like me, and what they’re finding is, obviously they started out studying men and boys for ADHD and finding is, obviously they started out studying men and boys for ADHD and presents for women and girls. And so, what it can typically look like for women and girls is it’s going to look a lot more like they’re daydreaming and thinking about a lot of other things. It also has a lot more forgetfulness to it when it comes to that, and some major organizational difficulties. So, just because it looks different doesn’t mean it’s not equally as impactful for people, and we need to remember that. It can also be in women, it can also lead to more anxiety, more depression, and low self-esteem, because of all of that other- the daydreaming, those types of things. It can also impact them socially. They might struggle with the ability to socially relate. To connect with people in the same manner that the typical type of mind would connect. And, not to be forgotten, it can also be messed with by hormonal changes, so that ADHD brain gets played with by those additional hormones that can fluctuate month to month and throughout other periods in life. So, just a great reminder that ADHD looks different for everyone, but they have figured out that for women and girls, there are some kind of standard things that do apply in ways that it presents. So now you know more, and I hope that helps. I’m JoyGenea, thanks and have a great day.
