“I don’t know what I want to do yet.” You say it like a confession. It is not.
The people who knew their one lane at 18 and drove straight down it are not the control group for a good life. They are one group. You are another. And the research keeps siding with your group: in the largest study of world-class athletes, the ones who sampled widely and specialized late went the furthest.
Not knowing yet is not the same as being lost. It means you are still gathering, which is exactly how a wide base gets built. You do not think your way to the answer. You do things. You pick something that pulls you, learn to get paid for it, go deep, and when it stops teaching you, you move.
That is not indecision. That is how range compounds into an edge nobody can copy.
So stop grading yourself against the straight-liners.
What would you go try this quarter if not knowing yet were allowed?

And if you are a young person just starting out in the world, just graduating from high school and you’re like, “I, I don’t know what I wanna do.
Like everybody else kinda has this lane and I’m not sure,” you’re okay. You’re okay. My best Best, best advice to you is go figure it out. And you do that by doing things. So what are you interested in right now? What do you spend hours doing that, you know, like totally enthralls you? Go learn how to make some money in that area for a while and explore it and go deeper.
You may… I’ve multiple times watched and encouraged clients, and they’ve gone down a lane for a year or year and a half, and they’re like, “I’m bored now. I’m kinda interested in this thing over here.” And I’m like, “Go for it. Rock on.” Like, figure out how you can make some money and make a living and, and explore that some more.
Keep evolving like that. And I’ve been doing this long enough now. I’ve gotten to watch them evolve and start to build some incredible businesses, these young leaders. And I know they’re young future leaders. They’re just not at that space of ex- you know, running the company yet. Oh, but the company is growing in their back of their mind, but that’s another story.
Totally in alignment though with our current topic. You’re not behind. So if you have been exploring multiple careers or multiple chapters, you’re not behind. You’re just fine.
