Hey, this week’s Different Thinker Motivational Moment is about maybe asking more from yourself, or being really clear about what you’re asking from yourself. And what I’m talking about is the fact—are you asking enough of yourself without shame, blame, and guilt? Meaning, each week, are you encouraging yourself to grow just a little bit? To do something that you knew that you are just learning? Or to complete something that maybe has been on your to-do list for a really long time?
We consistently, as neurodiverse people, need to continue to grow our ability to execute and complete things. It’s not always our greatest strength—let’s just be honest. And so, this is my Different Thinker Motivational Moment. You can actually do those things, and you may have forgotten it. And your judgment saboteurs might be beating up on you. That’s an internal dialogue saying, “Oh no, you never get anything done,” or, “You always expect too much of yourself, and that’s why you never finish anything.”
Stop. Pick one small thing. That’s what I really encourage you—today, your different motivational moment is pick one small thing and say, “You know what, next week when I swing back around to see her next motivational moment, I’m gonna have this done.” And you know what that simple thing may be? I may have done my laundry this week. I may have cleaned up this little corner of something. I may have mailed this thing, filled out this form, done this little thing—I might have it done next week, ‘cause I can do that.
I’m JoyGenea, International Neurodiversity Coach, believing in you on so many levels. I want you to believe in yourself the same way.
This was your Different Thinker Motivational Moment. Go crush something amazing that’s on your to-do list. Bye now.
