DTMM: The Power of Resilience in Learning

If you’re a different thinker, this message is for you! In this Different Thinker Motivational Moment, I share a powerful insight from a recent class discussion. A fellow student in their 50s realized they had spent their entire life only learning things that came easily to them—avoiding anything that felt difficult or challenging.

This got me thinking… how often do we shy away from struggle instead of embracing it? True growth comes from pushing ourselves beyond what feels comfortable. Learning isn’t just about what’s easy—it’s about resilience, persistence, and celebrating the challenges that make us stronger.
Join me as I explore why embracing struggle is essential for personal and intellectual growth. Let’s celebrate resilience together!

If you are a different thinker, then this is your Different Thinker Motivational Moment.
I was just sitting in a class with a wide variety of people, and somebody brought up that the way—this is a person in their 50s, so they’ve spent a good portion of their life learning and doing a variety of things—they were pointing out that all of their life, they have only been learning the things that are easy to learn. If there’s any resistance to what they’re trying to learn, if there’s any struggle to it, if it’s challenging—well, they just don’t do it. They just move on; they learn other things.
And I just, like, I had to put myself on mute—it was a Zoom class—and laugh for a minute, ’cause I’m like, wow, where was that button when I was in school? And you know what? In listening to them further, here they were, having lived possibly half of their life, and they had never really pushed themselves or even knew how to push themselves into learning.
So, this is my Different Thinker Motivational Moment today—it is the fact that you can and should be celebrating your resilience.
Thank you! I’m JoyGenea. Bye now.
