Taking risks takes practice and experience to feel comfortable with. Since risk-taking is essential in business, I appreciate how playing games like Fantasy Football can build that risk-taking muscle.

If you are struggling to trust your experience and strengths so you aren’t taking risks, now is the time to bring a coach onto your team who can help get that momentum going. Schedule your free call here: https://joygenea.com/schedule-free/

If you’re noticing you’re struggling as a leader, meaning you’re showing up to work kind of just phoning it in, and actually I had somebody just recently hire me because they were phoning it in literally from a different location, and things were not working out, and they needed a jump start, they needed a solid push. Well, if that is happening to you, it is probably time for you to invite somebody in to your inner circle to give you that concrete push, and that’s one of the things that I do.
This week I’m also talking about my year-end second place in my fantasy football league, because this was my first year, and I truly understood very little about it, and it reminded me about getting uncomfortable, and it reminded me about leadership, so I wanted to share with you some of the top 10 takeaways that I had from that attached to leadership.
Learning new things can be fun and no stress. Remember when you were a kid, and you used to play? Yeah. It’s that kind of thing. Business can feel like that again too. When you get the right things in place, and you clean up some of the crap that’s been lying around, which will deal with some of your behavior.
Number two: fresh eyes beat well. That’s just the way we’ve always done it. You gotta get questioned about that.
No. 3: Not having most of the answers is okay, because guess what. As an unconventional and different thinker you probably have the endgame in mind. Not uncommon at all, especially if you’re leading a good team.
No. 4: Low risk is permission to take calculated risks. I cannot tell you how often my clients feel so stymied by their team that’s afraid of the risks. I remind them, they need to help their team be- experience and be reminded of risk. It’s okay. So, playing games, simple things like that, can remind us it’s okay to take risks and it’s fun.
No.5: I better hurry up! From Week 1, I had a variety, well anybody knows who plays fantasy football, you got injuries and reassessments and hidden talents. It reminded me in leadership, where is the gold on your team?
No. 6: Business 101- start, adjust, move forward, repeat, adjust, move forward, adapt, repeat.
No. 7: Stop being myopic. Don’t be looking in such a small little big picture. Thinking bigger picture will help you out, and most of the time you are thinking big picture anyways.
No. 8: The results are what counts, so thinking about those results, and remember to celebrate those results, and tell the team about it so they can celebrate too.
No. 9: Trust your skills and your strengths. If you are feeling like you cannot trust your skills, and your strengths, that is an incredible time to hire a coach. I’m just telling you.
And No. 10: The unconventional leader reminder, which is- nobody wins the Super Bowl playing it safe. You didn’t get where you are because you played it safe. Don’t play it safe.
I’m JoyGenea, unconventional leadership coach, international neurodiversity coach, and champion for the different thinker and the leader in you. Bye now.
