Leadership is a practice: make it fun

As leaders, we need to push ourselves all the time. Framing projects as games can make the challenges along the way less intimidating. This reframe can shift anxiety into excitement and motivation.

Think about your 2026 goals, pick one small, brave step, and repeat it.

Hey, this is a shout-out to my unconventional leaders, the ones with a little ADHD, a little dyslexia, maybe a lot of dyslexia, maybe a lot of ADHD, and maybe some autism sprinkled in there, or maybe a whole bunch of autism, whatever’s working for you. Whatever you’re cooking with, congratulations on being an exceptional leader. As a different thinker, I early on learned I needed a few mentors and guides to help me, and I went out and got them, and this August, my mentor asked me, “What are your plans for next year?” And, it threw me off, and I got a little annoyed, and then I recognized they were stretching me, and I said “Thank you, here’s what I’m working on, and I’m practicing the three C’s: clarity, courage, and consistency.” That’s what came up. I’ve been up to my eyes in training on how to integrate gamification practices into real life goals like this. I wrote my purpose, gave it two needle-moving items, and then I called them a quest, and then I actually created a map for next year on that quest. That simple shift in language created more progress than the big plan has done over the past years, and it was so easy to step into that and make it so much easier. I’m consistently asking myself what one little thing can I do today that will help? So, by Friday at five PM, I have this, this thing done, and trust me, this thing for Friday is pretty small. What I’m finding, cause I didn’t only finish my goals and my plans for the next year, I didn’t finish them, but I got them mapped out. It caused me to go back and start to implement. Why would I wait till next year, like hello. I started implementing those things this year, and adding in that gamification element, I’m doing it with my clients and adding it in, and the results are just becoming profound. So, that is one of the things I love to do. I love to be on the front of merging technologies, and that’s really what this feels like, and it is so incredibly um functional and works so well, weaves so well in with that different thinker mind, that brain that’s creative and pulls in different things and merges them together. It just works incredibly well, so that’s the fun that I’m up to, and this is my encouragement for you. Start thinking about 2026, keeping it simple, keeping it clear, but how can we look at what you map out as some quests and how can that be fun let’s gamify that a little bit. I’m JoyGenea, unconventional leadership coach and international neurodiversity coach, because your different thinking is changing the world, and I wanna help you make that happen. Bye now.
