Hi, I’m JoyGenea, international neurodiversity coach, and this week I am talking about a coaching topic that most coaches should know and share with anybody, but what I find is not all of them do and yet it is such an important thing. Limiting beliefs, ok so and in the neurodiverse community, in that autistic, ADHD, dyslexia, OCD in that environment limiting beliefs can be huge and why that’s so important is because they are the anchor that prevents us from moving forward. They really are.

You can have the best of intentions. You can have done so much counseling, so much other heavy lifting and yet you go and set those goals and you’re just not achieving them, that is when you need to really look at those limiting  beliefs that stuff that is getting in the way of you getting where you need and deserve to go. So, for fun I have created the top 10 limiting beliefs. A bunch of them I have heard in particular. I also worked with AI to see what it came up with and I made a hybrid list. So, here is what we got- “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t do this,” “I am too old or too young,” “Others can do it better than me.” “This is just the way I am.” “Failure is bad.” “I don’t have enough time money or resources.” 8- “What will they think of me?” Ohh worrying about other people. 9- “I need to be perfect.” You do not need to be perfect. That’s ok. “Happiness comes from external factors.” So, that is the top 10 limiting beliefs, and what I’m going to tell you is, if you heard it when I said them out loud, imagine yourself saying that to any child trying to do something. You would never talk to them like that, you would never ever talk to them like that but yet you consistently talk to yourself like that all the time. You go to do something and inside your head you go, “Well I can’t do that. Well I don’t know I’m too old for that.” I get it. Those are the limiting beliefs. You want to overcome a pile of obstacles in life quickly, you work on those limiting beliefs, and the fastest easiest way to do that, I’m going to say is to work with a coach and is to identify them. The number one thing you gotta do is identify them. Once you’ve identified them then– and what that means is you start to hear yourself when you start new things, when you get handed a new project, what does your brain start to say? If it says a bunch of those things on that list, that’s a hint you’re dealing with some issues and you don’t want to have those limiting beliefs working against you.

So, this is my encouragement. Work on your limiting beliefs now that you know about it, you can do something about it. Thank you. I am JoyGenea and have an awesome day!
