My favorite kind of awkward at work is the kind that leads to breakthroughs. I was leading a meeting yesterday, facilitating with amazing leaders. It was so vibrant- full of energy. Leaders aren’t born polished. They are built in the awkward middle. This week, I’m normalizing messy drafts, quick feedback, and version history on projects. Why? Because the fastest teams practice in public. If you are a different thinker like me, that space to iterate is everything.
Here’s my Monday move, ship something imperfect, ask for one specific improvement, and log the win. Progress loves visibility. Your team loves visibility. Unconventional thinkers, ship imperfect, take the feedback, and make great things happen. I promise you I sat in that meeting, I heard all about it. It was messy and it was incredible.
