People can be surprised when they hear I have sent a few clients to improv classes. The reason I do this is not to push them into a new hobby, it’s actually to build CONFIDENCE and experience in taking decisive and collaborative ACTION.
Improv is a big challenge at first for some clients, but by facing that and reflecting on why, we can make huge progress. The story of this client is a great example of how these creative tools can unlock skills necessary for leading a thriving business.

Okay, so I’m dying to share this client story with you. I had this client, brilliant idea on how to expand their business, I’m talking millions and millions of dollars. They just needed to take the leap, go in this direction. So, we had it on their list, like each week we were kind of talking about it. I understood their fears. They were getting the team ready. They were really getting the buy-ins. Things were starting to happen, and then all of a sudden, just kind of sat on their list, and it didn’t keep moving forward, and I’m like, ‘Where did this go? And what happened?’ And it turned out somebody had made the comment that he- that his idea wasn’t good, and one of actually the partners, there was a multiple group of partners involved, said ‘You know what I don’t think that’s gonna pan out and we probably shouldn’t waste any time with it.’ And so he just stopped and it really undercut his- for some reason it just hit him, and he stopped, and so to increase his confidence, to increase what he was saying and doing, I sent him off to improv classes, and this is not the first client I have sent off to improv classes, but the first time he went, he tried to quit. There were four, he signed up for four classes, and we talked through that, and he recognized that this was just an old fear and anxiety that had been living in there from being an unconventional thinker, and growing up in school systems that had really questioned why he was doing what he was doing. So, we worked through that, discovered a whole bunch of new crap that was in there, got that out of the way, and the next thing I know, I’m not kidding you, one week after finishing the improv class, which he enjoyed so much at the end he wound up m- enrolling his top leaders in, because he knew to have them fully enrolled in what he was gonna make happen he needed to get them uncomfortable, and he shipped them off for that opportunity, and so within a week after finishing that he had crushed the goal. He had enrolled the entire management team below him and the group of people that were gonna help launch this new division. They were so excited because he was so excited, and I can tell you that it is doing really, really well, and we are celebrating that. And, I am celebrating his success, and he’s watching this, and he knows it. My reminder to you- get uncomfortable, it’s a great thing to do, and amazing things come out of that, so thank you for letting me share my client story.
Remember you’re a brilliant thinker. Don’t forget that, and it’s needed in this world every day. It’s needed in this world to think outside the box and to think of new ways of doing and creating things.
