The Task You Won’t Write Down Is the One Costing You the Most

You will fill in most of the time audit without hesitating. Tasks you hate, things that drain you, work anyone else could handle. And then you will get to one item and pause.

That pause is the whole point.

The task you will not write down is the one your identity has wrapped itself around. Letting go of it feels like admitting something you are not ready to admit: that you have been the bottleneck. Not the market, not the team, not the timing. You.

Ownership of a task is not the same as it being a good use of your brain. The thing you are protecting from the list is costing you more than everything else on it combined.

Write it down. That is where the real audit begins.

What is the task you keep leaving off the list?

That is an understatement. That is an understatement right now. You definitely wanna do that, and when you’re doing that, when you have that list of what your day is about and the things that you can’t stand, hate, should not be doing in any way, shape, or form anymore, like, you can see it on there so clearly.

You don’t even wanna write it on the list. I love that. My clients will be like, “Well, I didn’t really wanna put this on there.” I’m like, “That’s not an option. You need to put it… That’s when you really need to put it on there.” But that is also how you identify what can be automated, what should be automated.

You go through that list of what you don’t like, what is a huge time suck, what other people could be doing. We used… And so years ago when I had clients do that, we were figuring out when do they need an assistant, when’s the line, what will they delegate to them?
